It’s already the end of our first week! Here’s an overview on what’s ahead during our second week. Please refer to Assignments and the Schedule for more details on the requirements and daily activities.
Nonprofit project: You will use this week to map out your strategy and start implementing it. On Monday, you will visit your client and finalize your project. Every student should know when and where you are meeting. On Tuesday, we will discuss the projects with each group in class. Make sure everyone in your group knows what they need to do.
Quiz: Expect another quiz this week. It will be announced the day before. The quiz will have five questions and will test your understanding of the lectures and readings.
Twitter engagement: You need to engage on Twitter every day until the end of the semester (five tweets daily; except for the weekend). You need to follow all of your classmates, your professors, program assistants and the program Twitter account (@vcusocialmedia). Instagram engagement: You need to engage on Instagram every day until the end of the semester (one post daily; except for the weekend). You need to follow all of your classmates, your professors, program assistants and the program Twitter account (vcusocialmedia). See a link to all Instagram usernames under “Files” in our Facebook group.
Tool presentation: Check under “Files” in our Facebook group for your assigned date and be ready to present.
Blog contribution (MASC 491 only): Make sure you know you know when you are signed up for a date and guest speaker in our Facebook group. All students who did not sign up were assigned a date. The dates are posted under “Files” in our Facebook Group.
Iraq presentation (IYLEP only): All teams need to be ready to present on Tuesday at the beginning of class. Feel free to wear traditional attire, if you like. Your team has to send your presentation file to Vivian Medina-Messner by Sunday (July 10).
Research Project (MASC 691 only): Give an update to Dr. Marcus Messner in a meeting during class on Wednesday.
Readings: Read chapters 3-9 in our textbook by Thursday (chapters 1-2 were assigned in Week 1).

Field trip: The IYLEP students will visit the Richmond Times-Dispatch on Monday (3-5 p.m.). We will meet at 3 p.m. at the entrance of the newspaper at 300 East Franklin Street. Please be on time. The VCU campus connector stops near by. VCU students are welcome to come along.
